Do not take Revenge
Romans 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
The word revenge is the act of doing something to hurt someone because that person did something that hurt you, in the first place. It is to retaliate. Revenge/retaliation is a natural thing for man.
The scripture teaches that when someone hurts you deeply, instead of giving him what he deserves, forgive and even befriend him (Romans 12:17-21).
For a natural man, this is impossible, but a Christian should not seek to get even with someone who has wronged him. You must not seek revenge. Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us not to react to the wrongs done to us in the spirit of hate, but in a way that shows that we are His, and that our values are centered on Christ and His kingdom.
Our actions should be such that it might lead them to accept Christ as their saviour. As a believer in Christ, we must demonstrate the character of Christ in forgiveness.
The right Christian attitude/reaction to evil/wickedness done to us by others is forgiveness. This is because forgiveness breaks the cycle of retaliation, and leads to mutual reconcilation.
It makes the enemy feel ashamed, and change his/her ways. Repaying evil for evil hurts you as much as it hurts your enemy. Even if your enemy repents, forgiving him will free you of the heavy load of bitterness.
When we are wronged, most time, our first reaction is to revenge. Instead, Jesus says we should do good to those who wronged us. Our desire should not be to keep score, but to love and forgive. By loving and praying for our enemies, we can overcome evil with good.
There is no limit to forgiveness.... And always remember... Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
God bless you.
