Do not Abandon God

Hebrews  3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. One of the menaces of the end time is backsliding and spiritual draining. Most Christians are fast forgetting the faithfulness and love of God. Many wouldn't have had the thought of giving up on God if not for situations that seems to be beyond their control. Situations like financial difficulties, martial challenges, prolong sickness, unanswered prayers, prospering unbelievers while believers wallow in poverty among others. For these reasons many has began to give up on God whom they thought is unable or impotent to deliver in times of their individual troubles. The Deception of the devil is to keep bringing this thought into the heart of a believer until he/she yields to it. The spirit life will become derailed and the wall of defence will become broken which will eventually give the devil the chance to begin his attacks. Do not abandon God no matter what. B

You need People

1 Chronicles  12:22 For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God. The glory of a king lies in the vastness of his kingdom and subjects. No king can survive alone. You actually need people around you to be able to actualise your God-given dream. Have you ever seen a king who conducted his coronation by himself? Or can a president preside over his swearing-in ceremony? You can't be fulfilled alone. You need some people to announce your arrival. Pharaoh announced and decorated Joseph. 1 Chronicles 12:22 shows how God knitted the heart of people with David's. They eventually became the wheel of his progress, and his stairs to reach the top. However, some people are in the habit of conspiring with people to get to the top at the expense of God. They use and dump those who fast track their rising to stardom. They don't last. Some people ought to have risen beyond their present levels, but for their attitudinal defici

Do not take Revenge

Romans  12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. The word revenge is the act of doing something to hurt someone because that person did something that hurt you, in the first place. It is to retaliate. Revenge/retaliation is a natural thing for man. The scripture teaches that when someone hurts you deeply, instead of giving him what he deserves, forgive and even befriend him (Romans 12: 17-21 ). For a natural man, this is impossible, but a Christian should not seek to get even with someone who has wronged him. You must not seek revenge. Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us not to react to the wrongs done to us in the spirit of hate, but in a way that shows that we are His, and that our values are centered on Christ and His kingdom. Our actions should be such that it might lead them to accept Christ as their saviour.  As a believer in Christ, we must demonstrate the character of Christ in forgiveness. The right Christian attitude/reaction t

The vessels God uses

2 Timothy  2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. One of the attributes of God is omniscience ; He is all-knowing. He knows man profoundly, and can say what is going to become of every of His creature. Out of His wisdom, He designed the heavens and the earth with everything in them, of which some agents of evolution are proving otherwise but cannot change nothing about the knowledge, power and existence of God. God uses anyone He chooses to use, and does whatever pleases Him. However, there are factors He considers in the choice of His usable vessels for godly courses. 2 Chronicles 36: 22-23   brings the life and leadership of a Persian king to bear, Cyrus was of a Persian origin, He was used by God to overthrow babylonian empire. According to the prophecy that had gone before him, he proclaimed and facilitated the return of the Jewish exiles to jerusalem,

Be God's gift to Others

1 Corinthians  12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. Your birth in this world is a gift, not just to your parents but to the whole world. And now that you are a child of God (Spiritual Birth), your value to the World is unquantifiable. Imagine you are cleaning out your messy closet, and there you find a beautiful gift a friend had given you months earlier. Both of you were thrilled, then, at the giving and reviving. Yet, somehow, in the busyness of life, the gift became buried underneath your "stuff", hidden and unused. Now picture how disappointed your friend would be if he or she knows you hadn't continued to treasure it. Imagine how God feels when you burry the gift He graciously gave you to benefit yourself, those around you and the body of Christ. God saved and graces you with His spiritual gift(s), Jesus came, lived, ministered and died as God's most precious gift to mankind. And because you believed it, you have become

Stagnation

Deuteronomy  1:6 The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:  1:7 Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates. Stagnancy is the state of not flowing or moving, being stale or inactive, and more deeply, not developing  or making any progress. It is a terrible force they creeps quietly into the life of the spiritually careless or ignorant. It regards and exempt nobody. Stagnation is never the will of God for His children. No wonder He commanded the Israelite to break camp and advance, after their long stay in Horeb. Stagnation is occasioned by some factors. Whatever your case might be, God is ready to move you forward if only you can call upon His name, as seen in the following examples. 1. Satanic hin

Who touched Me?

Mark  5:30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? In the midst of a  crowd of people, pushing and pressing, the Lord Jesus asked a shocking question, WHO TOUCHED ME?  This story is tucked between two events. A synagogue ruler had requested Jesus to come and heal his daughter, on the way, the crowd pressed on Jesus, but someone reached and touched Him. The interlude thus become the main event; all because one woman was bold enough to reach out, demonstrating great faith and resolution. Just as the Lord Jesus said, Not all who call me Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom, not all who came in contact with Jesus received a miracle. This story simply tells us that touching Jesus is based on some principles, not just physical  demonstration. The truth is that not all who come to church really come to church. The woman said in her heart, "if only I can touch Jesus I know I shall be made whol

Do not Lie

Exodus  20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Some years  ago when I was looking for a job in a tech industry, a superior in the Organisation was contacted on my behalf and he asked of my age. I told him but his response was that  I'm too way above the set age for those required.  In other to get me employed, he offered an option which is to backdate my year of birth, all I need is to swear in the court of law and my employment will be perfected. As easy as it seems, considering the juicy package that comes with the office I'm to take, I was about falling for the offer when the spirit of God told me.. "even if I want you to work in that Organisation, you have failed me already and you will never succeed if you proceed  further". I had to drop it.  Lies is one of the cancer that eat up our spirit body,  Exodus 20:16 is a clear directive from YAHWEH. It is one of the 10 commandments given to the Israelites through Moses, from the mountain of God

Why the righteous suffer

Hebrews  2:10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. In this world, there are mysteries that until we get to heaven, we might not be able to unravel. If you are to consider deeply, do you think people  who are holy, righteous, and faithful deserve sufferings, persecution, afflictions or tribulations? A Bible scholar once said, "Holiness and righteousness are no antidote to Christian's sufferings." this may sound so awkward but it is unavoidable truth, that you are righteous or holy does not guarantee your immunity against persecutions or sufferings. No Christian would disagree with this if he/she takes after the master Jesus Christ who suffered all for our sake. Abraham, the father of faith, only became a father at hundred. Was that because of his sins?, as devoted as Zechariah was in his peaceful service, he was denied having child until w

You are the author of your life Story

Malachi  3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. From generation to generation there has been  books of record in Jewish custom, some have the record of the Kings that ruled, some the record of judges and priests that presided over them. Saint Mathew knew this custom so he started his book with the geology of Jesus Christ. All of everyone's actions and behaviour among men and before God were consciously written, the reason is to remind the coming generation of what happens in the past, the mistakes of the patriarchs and how they also can make amends as not to make the same mistakes. As much as there are humanly written records, so also there are records written before God. These records were not written  by pen, not by stories told, but by our daily actions among men. Everything we do daily goes on record, and

God works while we wait

Lamentations  3:26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD. If we are going to be honest with ourselves, we all hate to wait. In fact, more often than not, we say something like, " I can't believe this is taking so long; it's costing me time I don't have!".  That's because most of us consider waiting time to be wasting time. But it's not so with our God. Anytime you wait on God, He works, even when you can't see what He is doing. God is always coordinating the events of the heavens and the earth to accomplish His purpose for the life of His children. The word translated  "to wait," here in verse 5, properly signifies the extension of a chord from one point to another. This is a fine metaphor : God is one point, the human heart is the other; and the extended cord between both is the earnest believing desire of the soul. This desire, strongly extended from the heart to God, in every mean of grace, a

Heavenly Father

Matthew  7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Yearly, father's day is being celebrated throughout the world in appreciation for their selfless love, sacrifices and dedication to the wellbeing of the home..  Being a father is beyond getting a woman pregnant and having a child, it goes beyond having a child named after one, being a father is standing up to responsibilities, and doing everything possible for His children and the home to succeed.  There are many fathers today being celebrated, biological fathers, adopted fathers, morally inclined fathers and also spiritual fathers. They all feature in our life journey to add value to our destiny. At some point, God raised many to guide us through the way according to His purpose and will.  As much as earthly fathers cares  about their children, they can not measure to the love and care of our heavenly father

The place of Safety

Psalms  91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. There are many things  that may bring fear into our hearts. We may face circumstances beyond our control, or fear the consequences of not meeting the expectations of the future. Fear of unforeseen circumstances which does not occur because of our inefficiency, but occur because of the situation we find ourselves. Ultimately, they hinder our ability to live as God intended for us. Whatever our fears and concerns are, we are assured of a place of safety in the Lord. Dwelling in the secret place of the most High is a privilege open to anyone who has yielded hi/her life to Christ. He has promised that the father would hold us sincere in the palm of His hands and protect us as the apple of His eyes. As the choice possessions of a loving God, we can trust in His strength to keep us. Those whose safekeeping has been assured by God include Joseph who was kept by God in the pit, in P

What are you seeing?

Exodus  3:2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. There is the tendency for man to look and not see. Have you discovered that if ten different people independently study a passage of a book from the bible, they would likely see different things when asked what they saw?  Has your attention ever been called to a certain structure or caption along the major road you have severally plied for years, which you have hardly noticed? This should help you to understand the question, ' what are you seeing with the' eyes' of God? ' Moses was pastoring the sheep of his father-in-law when he unexpectedly bumped into the scene of the burning bush. God wanted him to see something spectacular beyond the mere burning Bush.  His destiny was hidden behind it. Any other person could have looked at the scene as ordinary, and thereby miss the great vision

The days may be Dark

Psalms  118:5 I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place. When the days are dark, and the moonlights weep; when tress swim and ocean rock, when birds mourn and wild animals beg their prey, cry if you will that the order are reversed but never decline your trust in God, for nothing surprises him.  This is poetic but real. To job and his disgruntled friends, all was lost, but God had not begin unravelling the mystery of His almightiness.  Stay with God when your days seem dark, and you will never be swallowed by the horrors of the unknown.  Like the friends of job, the best anybody can do for you in moments of trials and pains are to offer miserable or empty consolations. But don't lose your faith and hope in God in the middle of it.  When it seems that your strength is exhausted on the days of trouble, cry if you want to, but hang on still in God till He causes you to mount with wings as eagles and exchange your feeble for His unfailing str

Save Others

Jude  1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:  1:23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. The primary assignment of every believer in this world  is to extend the grace in Christ Jesus to others just as we have been saved.  Although the philosophy of this world about sinners rest in justice and condemnation, but  the  philosophy of Christ in redemption which we must upheld rest in mercy and grace. There is no way there won't be some cases where a believer will fall into temptation of sin, it is the duty of the brethren to save such fellow and bring him/her back to the state of righteousness and holiness in Christ Jesus Christ was full of compassion while on earth he never condemn  sinners even though he hates sin just like the father does, but the love of the father through him was for all sinner to repent from their sins.  1 Timothy  2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

God boast about Job

Job  1:8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?  God our maker sometimes delights himself in the things He has made, such was the his satisfaction after the creation of man, it was said everything God created was good and he rested the third day.  What more joy comes from a man's work that yield success?.  The same act of delight made God to brag about job before Satan the accuser, Job's act of righteousness,   blameless (Free from blame; without fault; innocent; guiltless) ,  holiness, uprightness  (Of good morals; practicing ethical values)  and fear for God is not going unnoticed before God and the Satan himself.  In other to derive more pleasure in his worthy creation, God draws the attention of Satan towards Job, meanwhile Stan must have attempted to attack job, but his act of righteousness and faith towards God becomes a shield. (Jo

Be Disciplined

1 Corinthians  9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. Discipline provides people with rules to live their lives efficiently and effectively. When you have discipline in your life you can make small sacrifices in the present for a better life in the future. Discipline creates habits, habits make routines, and routines become who you are daily. Apostle Paul preaches to the Corinthians using himself as an example in being disciplined, after being redeemed by the Lord on his way to Damascus and being filled with the Holy ghost, he now brings his body under control, what he does before no longer come into existence but putting on a new nature of Christ Jesus, this is in a bid to continually live a spirit filled life that pleases God. Every believer must bring their body under control and being self disciplined so as to live a balanced life in God, we are not to behave like the wor

Prove It

Matthew  7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Chris Haddon Spurgeon once said that,  "Satan can make people to dance at the brink of Hell as though they were at the verge of Jordan". The reality in our environment today shows a clear contrast to what the grace of God can do. It is a fact that many who confess to be Christians are indeed at the brink of hell. Not everyone who carries the Bible,  goes to church regularly,  wears crucifix,  works in a section of a fellowship etc,  and perhaps "speak in tongue have all qualification to be a or called a genuine Christian. A  Christian is one who has been Redeemed by the blood of Jesus and who consistently live for the Lord by walking in His commandment with grace from heaven to live  life of victory over sin, self and society  (Titus 2: 11-13 ) Jesus affirms that a good tree will bring forth good fruits.  Genuine  Christian must bring forth the following. 1. Fru

Stretcher Bearers

Mark  2:3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. In the verse above we have four burdened men,  who cares so much about the healing of their friend.  Not much was known about them,  like their names,  age,  and positions in life  But we do know they were concerned about  a sick friend  They believed Christ would meet his need and so they were burdened enough to go,  Approaching the house with their friend in his bed,  the house was already crowded to get in.  There will  always be obstacle in our ways,   This four men looked up,  and found a solution,  though costly, as the roof will be broken,  but they never hesitate.... These four men were  great stretcher bearers, they have no personal gain from helping this thier friend in getting healed.  They took their friend to the roof of the room Christ was and let him down, and that act of kindness made Christ to heal the sick on the stretcher. Mark  2:4 And when they could not come nigh unto him f

The Cost of being God's Friend

James  2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. After losing everything he held dear,  job looked back and longed for the days when God's friendship graced his home,  his children were around and everything was going fine.   Maybe you can remember days like that in your own life,  we've been conditioned to think of friendship in terms of the benefits it confers,  but being God's friend comes with a price.   It cost time,  selflessness,  thoughtfulness,  absolute trust and very often suffering.   Those who are intimately close feel the hurts and joy of the ones they love more than anyone else.   True intimacy means a death to our own selfish desires.  Abraham was called God's friend but the friendship came at a price.   We read,  Abraham believed God,  when He was asked to leave his father's house to an unknown location,  At age 93 he believed God will s

All things work Together...

Romans  8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. We most time cannot see the good that comes from immediate trials and sufferings. Therefore, we must assume  the good that God brings withing our lifetime. God views things from His eternal perspective and it doesn't have to conform with our own sense of reasoning. In fact, it some times  negates our natural understanding about life. everything God created in this world is for His glory and thus, uses them to direct, redirect and channel man's life towards his blessings, glory, destiny, redemption and eternal glory in His kingdom. God watched Stephen being persecuted and martyred by the Jews, instead of saving him, He was given a standing ovation for a welcome home by the host of heaven. This was not the expectation of the early Church but it was a process of God to arrest the heart of a great vessel whom will be a tool in His hands to

Be Broken

John  12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.  Brokenness is the process of totally  surrendering  our heart, mind, and body to Christ No seed can ever produce fruit except it has first died to the earth and spring forth  again. Only then can it yield more Fruith.  To see Christ, to experience him, we need to die to self. We need to remember that we cannot train ourselves to be Christians; we cannot discipline ourselves to be saints; we cannot bend ourselves to the will of God: we have to be broken to be able to obey and totally accept  His  will.  Apostle Peter was yet to be broken when he denied Christ three consecutive times, he lived his life so he's nit ready to die yet, although it was not in God's plan for him to die at the moment. He became broken when the Holy spirit descended at the upper room, he preached without fear and he did not loved his life till de

The name above all Names

Philippians  2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:  2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;  2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. A name of a person is an identity that distinctly differentiate one from another, Adam firstly gave name to all things created by God and the name he so gave them they bear till date. Names are powerful and carries authority. In God's relationship with the Israelites, names were made sacred to remember the experience they had, to invoke the power that works through it and to teach their next generation of their experience. When Abraham was about to slaughter his son and God made a provision, He instituted a name for God which is Jehovah-jireh which is God the provided. Genesis  22:14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said

The other side of God

Isaiah  45:5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:  45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.  45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. We only know God by the way he treats us,  we can never understand the full act of God  The God we know is the one who does wonderful things,  who is the author of good things...  But in all our walking with God,  we fail to know His other side.   As much as he create peace for the righteous,  so much He create evil also for the wicked  The God Moses knew was the one forcing him to lead the children of Israel after giving so much excuses,  but the other side of Him was revealed at mount Pisga where moses pleaded just to see the land of Cannan but God refused.   When we pray and receive answers to our prayer... That is

God is Silent

2 Chronicles  7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. There is no doubt that there are many unrest situations around the world today, evil are being perpetrated  and the perpetrators  go scot-free, people die, many are displaced by those who has made evil their daily bread. At some point it seems prayers isn't effective as much as it was stated in the scriptures, some have concluded that God is not potent enough to save and deliver. But in all these, God is silent, not that He enjoys the wickedness of the people done against His own, but silent on the ignorance of the elect who are to be spiritually conscious of what is happening or about to happen.. In all generation God raised men after his own heart, to be his representative, to enforce righteousness, justice, holiness among others.. He raised them in go

You can't hide from God

Psalms  139:7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?  139:8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.  139:9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; King David acknowledged the omnipresence of God in one of his Psalms, he affirms that  God  is everywhere at all times. One cannot escape the presence of God by going to the grave(sheol), or by ascending to heaven. One cannot go to the depths of the sea to find a place that is free from the presence of God.  Darkness cannot hide one from God, for God is not subject to the effects of either darkness or light. Darkness is a result of the creation of light, but God existed before the creation of light, and does not existed in what men calm darkness.  How then can you hide from God?  When man first sinned in the garden of Eden, sin brought shame, disgrace and nakedness and separation, the glory of God that once c

The flesh on the altar

Matthew  21:12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,  21:13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. An altar is a raised area in a house of worship where people can honour God with offerings. Back in the old testament when God was directing the affaires of men without any proxy, He specifically direct men to establish altars as a place of sacrifice through which men can worship Him. After the Exodus God demands the establishment of an altar where sacrifices can be made, a place of holies of holy where only an ordained priest by God can walk up to  and make sacrifice. In latter times, Temple was  built where God's people can serve Him in faith and in truth. They go on sabbath days to hear the words of God  and engages in the act of worship necessary as ordaine

Genuine Repentance

Acts  3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Repentance is a summons to a personal, absolute and ultimate unconditional surrender to God as Sovereign. Some times may include  sorrow and regret, and it is a process of making a complete change of direction (180° turn) toward God. Our God is so loving and gracious, holy in act and righteous in deeds... As a means for us to enjoy His benefits and attain our rightful place in Him we must repent from our act of sin, and reunite with Him.  There are three  stages of genuine  Repentance  1. The act of being remorseful of what you have done, the consciousness of accepting you are wrong and the willingness to surrender.  Adam and Eve were the first being to sin against God, after sinning, they feel remorseful, they know they were wrong and hid their faces from God who is holy... (Genesis 3:8) When David sinned against God by taking anot

Rapture Ready?

1 Thessalonians  5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. In a time of insecurity. Lawlessness and Banditry, many have sort for a means to secure themselves against any form of attack. Politicians and many highly influential men have employ different kinds of security outfit, some will go with lots of convoy when moving from one place to another. Some security measure certain people placed in their houses is so great that no matter the weapon used to attack the house, it will never penetrate. All these are done just to guard  themselves against thieves, bandits, kidnappers etc. They are prepared and ready for any attack that may come thier way. As a believer in Christ, are you rapture Ready?, are you guarding  your heart against spiritual bandits, kidnappers, and hired assassins? The Bible says the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. It is not a time you will know, it is not a time you ever dream of, the day will come
