When faithful in a little way

Luke 19:17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.

Being faithful is to be loyal and steadfast in what one finds to do. It is a true character of being just, trustworthy, dependable and reliable.

God desires everyone to be trustworthy, by this He test His servants with little things before entrusting them with greater things. Faithfulness requires integrity, and God tests your integrity in the little things.

Our faithfulness in small things should matter to us because it is an indicator of how we live in this life. Jesus says if we are faithful in the small things, we are also going to be faithful in the big things. Likewise, if we are dishonest in the little things, we’re also going to be prone to being dishonest in the big things.

Luke 19:17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities. While this parable is a direct reference to money, we can also apply the biblical concept to other areas of our lives. God rewards those who are faithful with the small things and faithful in that which they have been given.

We may wish we were in different jobs, want more influence or feel that no one knows or understands us. We can know that God sees our faithful service and will reward us. He wants us to be faithful with the little things and the opportunities that are before us.

Do you do what you say you are going to do? Do you turn down the “little” opportunities thinking it is too little for you? Do you keep at it when the “little” task becomes tedious and no “better” opportunities are coming your way and no one is noticing your effort? What would it look like if we started being really faithful?

Joseph was faithful in the house of Portiphar, he was made prime minister of the whole nation.

What has God asked you to do that you have been putting aside?

Let’s commit together to look for ways to be faithful, regardless of who notices. Let’s be faithful to serve even when we don’t have a better offer.

We don’t know what God will do, but we can be assured that He will bless us for being faithful and committed to Him.

God bless you.
