The iniquities of the forefathers

Jeremiah 11:9 And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 11:10 They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers

God maintains the overseer of His people whom He has redeemed by His unconditional love. During the reign of Josiah, God takes the people back to the covenant that He established with them on Mount Sinai.

Josiah began the reforms and renewed the promises to keep ceremonially the laws of the covenant. However, God reminded them that their obedience to His law had not always been the case because they were a rebellious people.

God told Jeremiah that there was a conspiracy among the men of Judah; they were becoming rebellious and stubborn like their forefathers, and thus conspiring to turn again to idols. God promised to punish their acts of disobedience and rebellion.

Such is the case with a believer backsliding into the sin God had saved them from. It is going back to a life of iniquities and pleasures of the flesh.

God frowns upon anyone who backslides into sin again. Luke 9:62 says, "And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

Stop walking back to the way of sin from the past, circumcise your heart, and focus on the one true God. By doing so, your life and eternity will be full of peace.

Anyone who walks away from God incurs His wrath.

God bless you.
