Taking away your filthy garments
Zechariah 3:4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.
The vision of prophet zechariah concerning Joshua the high priest wearing a filthy garment is a representation of the state of the people of Judah before God.
Even as much as they are plucked out of the other nations and separated for a divine purpose, they consistently derail from the will of God and followed the custom of the earthen.
But God in His infinite mercy and grace would take away their filthiness and cloth them with the garment of righteousness and holiness.
This can only be possible through eternal redemption and the humbleness of heart of the people.
This is the same for us also as believers today, God wants us to take away our filthy garments which retard the presence of God from us.
As children of God, some of us are still living in secret lifestyle thereby living in sin and sin represents filthy garment. When we don’t address our sinful character and change our lives through genuine repentance to God, we will not be able to receive God’s promises for our lives.
As it is written in Zechariah 3:1-2 which says, “Joshua stood before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him”. God commanded those that stood before Joshua, saying, “Take away the filthy garments from him”. To Joshua, God said, Behold, I have taken away your sin, and put fine garments on you”. (Zechariah 3:3-4). Satan is our accuser before God and he is very cunning in his schemes and devices in trapping people into sinning against God.
But when we repent of our sins and change our ways, God will forgive us our sins. He will remove the filthy garment from us, and we will have access to the presence of God. It takes the mercy and grace of God to remove filthy garment imposed upon ourselves or it is imposed upon our lives by the enemy
You may be a prophet and still engages in secret sin... You still have a filthy garment on.
You may be a worker in the house of God, people see you as a true believer, even in your ministration there are signs and wonders, but your whole spiritual life is covered with filthy garment of sin. No matter how you try, your life can never please God except you take away the filthy garment away.
You can do this by confessing your sins before God, refusing not to yield to them again and continual living in the righteousness and holiness of God.
He is waiting for you.
God bless you.
