Love
Colossians 3:14. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
Love is the foundation upon which all interpersonal relationships are established. This is the adhesive that keeps the community or God together at all times.
God himself is love, and by this, he gave his only begotten Son to die for mankind... John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This was the extreme of God's love for us. And as much as we accept the love given to us, we also much extend its hand towards one another.
Love is expressly defined in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love suffers long and is kind;
Love patiently endures the weaknesses of others, it is not quick to discard a relationship simply because of a disagreement. It does not portray a harsh attitude against another either brother or spouse. Through kindness, love actively works towards the benefit of all those with whom it comes into contact with.
Love does not envy;
Love is not jealous over the accomplishment of others, it does not seek for the possessions of others. It will instead build up and not tear down, it will celebrate and not gossip.
Love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
Love does not push itself forward in order to be recognized, but willing to humbly work in the background of the crowd in order to exalt others. Love does not work in a bid to draw attention to itself.
Love is not prideful or arrogant and thus, does not insist on having its own way or consider itself better than others. It does not exult itself above others.
Love does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; it does not behave in a manner that manifests little consideration for others. It does not ignore the person of others for the sake of exalting itself.
Love does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
Love does not take pleasure in finding sin or failure in the life of others, it does not rejoice when others sins or makes a mistake,. Love seeks the truth and not evil.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. When things become difficult, love does not seize to work, love believes and seeks the good in all situations. Love believes all things works together for the good of believers. Love believes the best is yet to come.
A person that truly loves must exhibit the above actions of love without any reservation.
No family, community, society, or nation can thrive in excellence and greatness without love. It is the measure of our perfectness.
Loving one another reveals that we truly belong to God who is love
Let live reign
