Fruitless Tree

Matthew  21:19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.

All farmers desire bountiful harvest, investors aim to make maximum profit. Business people expect commensurate profit from transactions. More than any of these, our Heavenly father expects every believer in Christ to bear lasting fruit (John 15:16)

Consider Jesus' attitude to the fruitless tree in Mathew 21:19. A similar incident happened in the parable of Luke 13:6,7. He asked the tree to be cut down.

Put yourself in Jesus' shoes. Consider the  efforts, energy, money, and other resources that God has invested in you. How much has He realised on you as return on investment?

Anyone who refuses to bear the fruit of repentance (Matt. 3:8) or a Christian who does not bear the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) is a barren and fruitless Christian, who can be best described as a fruitless tree.

For us not to be like that, we must allow God's pruning, abide continually in Christ, let His word cleans us wholly, and always shun ungodly works of the flesh. above all, we should occupy for our Father (Mathew 28:18-20)

It is not too late. Start today with conviction and determination, refuse to be discouraged about the past failures and do not over-value your achievements.

Start today and be in duty for Him. God bless you.
