Do not be ashamed of the Gospel
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
The Gospel that we preach or believed in today was the birth, life, death, resurrection, ascension and second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
However, many finds it difficult to preach this Gospel, being afraid or shameful because of where they came from or the fear of what people will say.
The Judaism believers which believed in the God of moses found it difficult to believe in God becoming flesh through Jesus Christ, and subsequently suffering on a cross as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
But, Paul wanted Timothy not to be ashamed of the crucified son of God on a cross, neither does he want him to be ashamed of his fellowship with him in his imprisonment for preaching the cross.
Those who are ashamed of the Gospel event will avoid preaching the Gospel to others. If one is embarrassed to preach to the cross, then he will not preach the Gospel to the lost. People will subsequently not have the opportunity of hearing the Gospel.
Are you ashamed today of being identified with Christ? Are you being mocked for having a new character which is different from that of the world, and their words brings embarrassment and shame to you? Thereby making you ashame to come out boldly and preach the gospel to others.
God has not given us the spirit of fear, shame or embarrassment since we believed in Him, but he has given us power, love, courage and sound mind to live our life daily and to reach out to others who are yet to come into the light of the living God.
You can't be saved in Christ and finds it difficult to preach to others, people can call you any type of name, people may say you have lost your senses, but if you can stand your ground like the early church at Antioch, the joy of the Lord will flow through you to everyone around you until they also come to the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 9:26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels., anyone who is ashamed of Christ on earth, the same He would be ashamed of in the kingdom to come.
Do not be ashamed of someone who forgave your sins
Do not be ashamed of someone who died in your place when you are condemned to death
Do not be ashamed of someone who gave you peace when the storm of life attacks you
Do not be ashamed of some who fights your battle daily
Do not be ashamed of someone who provides your daily needs.
Do not be ashamed of someone who has gone to prepare a place for you in eternity
Don't be ashamed of the gospel, preach it anytime, anyday and anywhere. That's the heartbeat of God.
