The man after God's heart

Acts  13:22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

Every major accomplishment in a man’s life requires a major level of commitment.  I’m sure you can remember such an accomplishment in your life. Perhaps you were starting your own business.

Or maybe you were contemplating a job change or mapping
out a new direction for your company or your family. Whatever it was, there was probably some initial hesitancy. One day you were eager to start. . .and the next day you weren't  so sure. But once you made the decision to proceed, all the long hours of effort were  worth it because of the joy of seeing the fruit of your labors.

King David, whose life is the case study  understood  this principle of commitment when he desired to buy land and build an altar to God.

However, because David was the king, the landowner wanted to give him the land. But David realized that the greater the commitment, the greater would be the blessing. Therefore he declared, “I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing” (2 Samuel 24:24).

Do you know, God did not made a mistake when he desired a man who He would entrust a kingdom to and will not disobey all His will.

God is frequently represented as searching for a man of a certain type. Not men, but a man. Not a group, but an individual.  When God does discover a man who conforms to His spiritual requirement, who is  willing to pay the full price of discipleship, He uses him to the limit, despite his  patent shortcomings.  I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I  want him to do.

God is not looking for a perfect man, He's looking for a man that will wholeheartedly surrender to His will no matter the circumstances that he finds himself.

King david was no perfect man, he was a warrior with so much blood in his hands, he committed adultery with a woman named bathsheba and also killed her husband, he was a negligent father and his family was plagued with strife and tragedy and yet God states, "I have found David... A man after my own heart". The same similar word He said of Abraham in Genesis  18:19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

David's errors are not a yardstick for deliberate sin, but it teaches that human can have flaws and be imperfect, yet God can still make good of the wreathed life.

Can God vouch for your life today, when  God found you as He found David to be a man  after His own heart believing that you will do everything He commands you to do?

Desire to be recognised by God daily through your unreserved, total obedience to His will.

God bless you.
