Get to know God better

Job 11:7 “Do you know the mind and purposes of God? Will long searching make them known to you? Are you qualified to judge the Almighty? You're on the adventure or a lifetime when you pursue a greater knowledge of God. What you've learned about God so far should hive you a hunger to know even more. You must never be satisfied with what you know about Him already. Four practical benefits of knowing God. Blessing: the more you know God and obey His will. The more you'll experience His blessings. 'if you obey all the decrees and commands I am giving you today, all will be well with you and your children(... (Deautronmy 4:40) Peace: ' Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God... (2peter 1:2). The more you know God, the more at peace you will be, your struggle and setbacks will come, but even then you will have a sense of wellbeing because you will feel His nearness. Wisdom: Paul prayed that God would give the Ephesians... A spirit of wisdom and of rev

Overcome your Past

Judges  11:1 Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valour, and he was the son of an harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah. Sociologists tell us that human behaviour is largely determined by two things: our parents and our environment. Judging by that, they’d have written Jephthah off as a lost cause! But not God.  His Word says, ‘Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing’ (Isaiah 43:18-19 NKJV).  When Jesus becomes Lord of your life, neither genes nor environment can prevent you from becoming everything He intends you to be. Before his life was over, Jephthah became famous as Israel’s youngest governor, and is listed among the Bible heroes in Hebrews chapter 11.  That’s because God is a turnaround specialist! Maybe you were born in less-than-ideal circumstances, and you’re wondering if you can ever overcome them. The answer is yes! So the next time someone tries to use your past to put you down, remind them about Jephthah.  Th

Avoid Gossips

Nehemiah  6:6 Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words. The only way to avoid criticism is to say nothing, do nothing, and be nothing. When you attempt anything of value or significance, people are going to talk about you. Nehemiah's enemies tried to stop him from rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem by using gossip. 'it is reported among the nations and Geshem says its true... Moreover, according to these reports you are about to be OK their king and have been appointed prophets to make this proclamation about you in Jerusalem : Notice, no source Wass give of the accusations against Nehemiah. Always be prepared when someone comes to you and says something like this : 'I heard...' or ' somebody said...' Never receive a criticism from someone who is bringing it on behalf of someone else, someo

He is Sleeping

John 11:11 Then he said, “Our friend Lazarus has gone to sleep, but now I will go and waken him!”  Lazarus was the brother of Mary and Martha, they lived on the slope of the mount of Olives East of Jerusalem  After the sisters informed Jesus that Lazarus was seriously sick, Jesus only responded that the sickness will not to his permanent death.   Lazarus did die, however, Jesus knew that He would raise him from the dead.  From the view point of God, death is but a sleep from which all saints will awake.  Whenever a saint die, there is a believe and an assurance that such brother or sister, will rise from sleep on the last day when the Lord Jesus shall call out everyone.  When your friends, family, relatives, co-workers, church members shall gather at your grave, weeping wailing, crying and shedding tears, will Jesus say, he/she is just sleeping? Will you be  among those Jesus shall call out of the grave to be transformed into His glory on the last day? Will you hear the voice of the Lo

Your life's Purpose

Romans  8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. If you want things to work out right for you in life, you need to discover your God-ordained purpose and give yourself fully to it. The Bible says, "all things work together for good to those who live God, to those who are called according to His purpose". The focal point of your life should be discovering and doing God's will. What you believe about that will determine the direction you take and what you accomplish. There is a big difference between talent and purpose, you are called according to God's purpose not your talent, when you a talented but not called, you can be comfortable anywhere. But when you are aware of your God-given purpose and it governs your life, there are things simply won't do because you know they will derail, dilute, or defeat God's purpose for you. Being called according to God's purpose ena

Intercede for Others

Colossians  1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; Praying for others is a very important God-given Christian  mandate. As much as we have issues to discuss with God in prayer, there are some people we are duty bound to pray for, because we are not saved and empowered for ourselves alone.  However, this is an uphill task, if we don't have a Prayer altar, If we constantly meet with God in prayers, it will eventually become a habit. Keep your altar of prayer with fresh Holy fire.  The church prayed for Peter while in prison, and he was freed, Paul requested that the church pray for him, Abraham intercedes for Sodom and Gomarah, Jesus instructs that we pray for our leaders.  There is no basis for egocentric prayer, pray for tour family members, relatives, neighbours, Gospel ministers, mission fields, the sick etc.  As God sent in

Make Impact

Matthew  5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. We are in a society where the general consciousness is corruption. Rotten Ness and evil behaviours parade themselves freely in the society, and most sadly the believers are not left out.  The number of Christian denominations. Gospel ministries and ministers is alarming. Even in government and business offices, fellowships are daily observed.  There are many Christians among the politicians and public office holders. Yet, the level of corruption in our society is skyrocketing today.  The question is, why?, is it the power of the Gospel can no longer change people? No, it is not so   it is the failure of so many people who call themselves Christians to impact positively on the society.  Despite that the light of Christ in us is expected to shine in the darkness of this world, with the indisputable assurance that the darkness has not understood it,  Few Christian's make positive impact, believer

Give him Praise

Acts  16:25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. We are saved, called and preserved to declare God's glory, the reason some Christians don't enjoy the presence of God is their lack of the attitude of gratitude. Jesus demonstrated the habit of praising and thanking God, throughout His Earthly ministry. No wonder He exhumed the power and presence of God anywhere He went, since God inhabits the praise of His people. Paul and Silas were praising God instead of being depressed, or thinking of how to escape from the prison, They were stripped, beaten and placed in stocks in the inner cell, yet they were praising God, it brought heaven down to their situation. Praising God offers access to the presence of God, praising God guarantees our victory over the enemies, Praising God draws God's attention to us quickly than prayer. Learn to praise God in whatever situation, when you forget His blessings, you will become a victim o

What is your Motive?

Malachi  3:13 Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee?  3:14 Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts? It’s not  what’s on the outside that counts, but what is on the inside that leads to what we do on the outside.  Proper motivation is important to God, and improper motivation may well be idolatry as we worship self, religious performance, or the approval of others.  Some people go through the right religious motions, but there is no joy or life present. Others do the right things to impress others or to make themselves look good.  What God wants is a heart that has repented from the sin of chasing our own glory and performing dead works. He wants us to be controlled by His love and motivated by His glory and name. Why do you serve the Lord? (Verse 14) 1. Do you feel that it is useless? (Israel was saying i

Bitterness

Hebrews  12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; Bitterness is Holding on to, or showing feelings or intense animosity ( hatred   anger, resentment or vindictiveness. Wanting to get back at someone, others words that describe bitterness are; merciless,  unforgiving, holding a grudge. Bitterness is also described as feelings resulting from something that is difficult to accept. God's word warns us against the dangers of bitterness, when we allow ourselves to become bitter against others, we creat walls difficult to overcome, which isolates us from others. (Proverb 18:19) Do not carry or keep bitterness, but replace it with love, kindness and forgiveness (Leviticus 19:18) proverb 17:9 If you allow bitterness a place in your heart, it will eventually come out of your mouth in murmuring and complaining.  The Lord, in His love. Can diver you from the sin of bitterness,  Bitterness

The little is Enough

Matthew  14:17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. This was the story of Jesus feeding the five thousands (excluding women and children) with five loaves of bread and two fishes, Jesus was a leader with Compassion for the multitudes.  He was able to recognise their physical needs even after he had feed them with the spiritual food, he asked the disciple what they have that could feed the multitude.  The disciple went into ultimate search, asking who at least could come to the prayer ground with food, at a point someone suggested they send someone to market to buy, but before the suggestion seems not to be favourable.  Lastly they came by a boy who has five loaves of bread and two fishes, but is that not too little for even two grown up men to eat and be satisfied?.. Yes, but enough to feed the multitude.  Jesus first gave them the opportunity to use their own wisdom to search for solutions, he gave them the opportunity to try their luck, but none was ab

Cut the conversation with the Devil.

Matthew  4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.  4:11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him. The enemy has a plan for your life: to steal, kill, and destroy. God calls us to “be alert and of sober mind,” watching out for the schemes of the devil who “prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour" (1 Peter 5:8). The devil wants to devour our lives, keeping us from the joy of living in a relationship with Jesus.  After Jesus was baptised, He was led into the desert to be tempted., after a long forty days and night retreat of fasting and prayer, the devil came to tempt Jesus to sin.  The devil tried on three consecutive times to lue jesus to sin, in each of the first two attempt, Jesus gave him a corresponding answer as which we Christians of today should emulate. But on the third attempt, Jesus was able to cut the conversatio

Depend on God

James 4:13-14 [13]Look here, you people who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to such and such a town, stay there a year, and open up a profitable business.”  [14]How do you know what is going to happen tomorrow? For the length of your lives is as uncertain as the morning fog—now you see it; soon it is gone.  Men often live like they will live forever, however life is short in comparison to eternity.  Many who have died in our ancestry only tow or three generations in the past are forgotten even by great grandchildren.  In the context of the verse above, James attacks those, who in their zeal to consume this world upon themselves, are ignoring their responsibility to serve God.  Every man must come to understand that the things of this world is passing away. Once one comprehends that this world will soon be gone in reference to his life, he will often focus on those things that are beyond life. James 4:15 [15]What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we shall live and do t

The Church Prays.

Acts  12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. This was the story of Peter being arrested by Herod and was placed on prison, he was placed under the security of four different groups of guards who watched his cell around the clock in four  shifts.  This made it difficult for anyone to make an escape even he he tried to..  But the church prayed without ceasing to God for a divine intervention.  What is the church doing today when their minister finds himself on the most difficult situation?  What do you do when your friends and family are passing through difficult times of life...  The church was not divided, there were no gossipers who would have gone from house to house to share gossips.  They were not divided by factions or doctrine  The church didn't staged a protest against the ruling government in solidarity for Peter, but rather they staged a spiritual supplication to God for divine intervention  There church

Do not fear Rejection

Psalms  27:10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up. Rejection is difficult no matter the circumstances in which it comes. But as believers in Jesus, we stand in a long line of those who have all, in one way or another, faced rejection for their commitment to follow Christ. Some have lost their families, others their reputations, and even others their lives. The most difficult rejection of all time is that of the parent, those you trusted so much with your heart, king David was able to re-establish his love and assurance in God that, even if his father and mother should forsake him, God is rightly there to accept him  In one way or the other we have faced rejections, some from our close relatives, some at work, some comes as a result of our integrity and denial to compromise our standard.  Many as preacher of the Gospel has faced rejection for speaking the truth, many even paid with thier dear lives.  But the good news is we are not to be afraid of any

Be Guided

Galatians  5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. The christian life is within the realm of the Spirit's direction through the word of God, when we live according to the direction of God's word, we are living in the spirit.  Apostle Paul called on the Galatians to bring in harmony with the direction of the spirit, in other to be withing the realm of the sprit one must behave after the spirit-inspired word of God.  It is so sad today that many Christian often time decline from the directions of God but following self will and sole dependant on the gift they possessed.  As powerful as Jesus Christ was, Joseph was instructed to flee to Egypt in other to safeguard the infant, not that God is not powerful to save, but there is time for everything.  Moses was commanded to touch the rock with the rod but instead strikes the rod on it, thereby making him lose the opportunity of getting to the promise land... As dedicated and determined as he was, despite all aff

Look Again

2 Kings  6:17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. This was the story the war of the Syrians against the children of Israel and prophet Elisha was trapped in Dothan in other for him to be killed as he was the only advisor to the king of Israel who always reveals the secret of the enemy by the revelation of God.  Many solders encamped against Elisha, and his servant was very afraid as there is no help from anywhere. 2 Kings  6:15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? But the man of God reiterated, 2 Kings  6:16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. So he prayed the Lord should open his eye

Contentment: The virtue of God

Hebrews  13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Paul, the apostle, wrote, "I don't say this out of need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am" (Phil. 4:11). How could he make such a bold statement? Because he knew that contentment lies not in what he has, but in whose he is. When you come into a relationship with God through his Son, Jesus Christ, you will  understand whose you are  and what you have. A lack of contentment will cause you to look horizontally - at what others have you are never satisfied. But Contentment makes you  to look vertically - at God. When you look in his direction, regardless of your  possessions or lack of or status or lack of, then you  know that he is enough. Contentment comes when we can honestly say with the apostle Paul, "I know both how to have a little, and I know how to have a lot. In a

Evil Shepherds

Jeremiah  23:2 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD. In view of the subject of the verse, shepherds here apply to the Kings if Israel who led the people astray from God to embrace idolatry,  Beginning with Solomon, the kings led the people to the idol gods of nations around them. In the most cases, the reason for this was to establish alliances for trade and economic gain.  In like minds, most church members today have been led astray by prophets, pastor's and apostles who with greediness and selfishness established doctrines and laws which the Lord has neither shown or reveal to them.  Some who are not called by God aligned with the devil for powers of visions, miracles, signs and wonders and have crept into the Church of God and scatter them by thier works of evil.  Many members have been

Prophecy good things.

2 Kings  4:26 Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well. This was the story of a shunammite woman who always take care of prophet Elisha whenever he travel pass their abode She was the same God gave a child after many years of waiting, even at her old age But the son died. Without any form of drama of weeping, she went straight to the man God used. But on her way, the prophet sent a message to her to inquire if all is well, her prophetic response becomes the foundation of her son's healing. She replied 'all is well' This was a woman who has suffered mockery and shame while she was yet to conceived  This was a woman whose neighbors and friends would have told to adopt a child that her womb can never conceive. The same child that was given to her out of her act of hospitality died suddenly...  If you are in her shoes imagine what you would have done  What do y

Break the Limit and go beyond

Romans  8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. We are all limited in some way. We may have a physical weakness of some kind, we may be socially awkward, or we could have a weak educational background. Some people deal with past disappointments that try to hinder the development of future success. Everyone is dealing with something. However, no one has to be limited when it comes to God’s purpose and intention for their life. Moses felt limited by his ability to speak. Gideon felt limited by his 300 men The disciples felt limited with the 5 loaves and 2 fishes Jeremiah felt like he was just a child in Jer. 1 Paul had a thorn in the flesh; admitted he was weak and trembling in I Cor. 2 Yet after the touch of God in the life of these people, they broke the tide of limitation and went beyound their initial imagination God has deposited the fruit of greatness in everyone it is left to you to grow it. If you need to break the limit an

The foolishness of being Gifted

1 Corinthians  13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. Spiritual gifts are something every believer is given when they receive the gift of salvation. Just as the gift of salvation is by grace through faith, so are the spiritual gifts. Our God is so generous. He is constantly giving us things. It is very sad today that many baby Christians and even the grown up alway believe being gift is a testament of being sent by God or being in the spirit.  This has made many derailed from salvation and many lost their faith in Christ.  Many can exhibit the gifts of the spirit but lack the consciousness of the spirit,  The gifts of God are without repentance, even when you have derailed form the path of salvation, your gift will still be at work.  Ahitophel was a seasoned gifted counsellor, who finds his position with King David, he was a renowned

Who is a Sinner?

John  8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. I know  some of you reading this piece  here have been believers for over twenty years. Some have even worked for the Lord for over fifteen years. My question can be considered as one of the ABCs of the Bible. Who is a sinner? I believe that many will quickly give an answer with numerous Bible references... But I'm sorry to state otherwise. No doubt we all know the Bible says  in Romans  3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; but if you checked closely it was a past action that prompted the lost of the glory of God, the same also brought unto us the salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord. We have once lived in the darkness of sin, ignorant of the laws of God, but found grace in Christ Today many Christians categorically regards anyone who goes against the laws of God as a sinner and ready to judge at

Situations like Potiphar's wife

Genesis  39:7 And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.  39:8 But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;  There are many situations of life that will come our way which will usher us into our greatness, and there are some that leads to total destruction of glory without remedy.  Such is the case of Potiphar's wife in the life of Joseph. After his master had entrusted his whole household in his hands, and has also found favour in the sight of God, then comes an irresistible offer.  Joseph lacked nothing in his masters house, in fact, he determines routine activities in the house, even being a slave, he's next to the master.  Potiphar's wife seeks Joseph's attention daily, presenting an offer which anyone will find difficult to resist, even an offer which can make him have to

Don't lose your Guard

2 Peter  3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. In the hour  in which we live, it's more important than ever for us to keep our guard on  against the devil's plots and strategies at all times. Guard means to watch over in other to protect or control. As  Christians, we are solders of Christ in this world, no doubt we have been fighting one war or the other... Many of us has experience different situations of life, the good, the bad, times when it seems all hope is lost, times when we seems to be defeated, times of shame and disgrace... Also times of joy and happiness, celebration and glorification...  But In all this, we must not lose our guard,  Don't lose your guard of prayer when you have received what you prayed for, the devil never sleep nor slumber. It is very sad today that people try to relent on the altar of prayer immediately they receive ans

A heart of thanksgiving

Psalms  150:6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. Thanksgiving is the expression of gratitude, especially to God.  Thanksgiving is showing appreciation for what someone has done in the past, present and yet to do.  In several ways of our lives, God demands thanksgiving from us, He is the maker and provider of all things.  The Bible text says let all living things, anything that has breath should give thanks to God, even when you are dieing, you should keep thanking God.  Giving thanks is not limited to only good times of life, we are expected to give thanks even when passing through the most difficult times or life, because in any situation we may find ourselves, God is still faithful.  Our thanksgiving open doors for more grace, blessings and visitations from God  Praise God in your good times, bad times, when you are going through pain or when you are rejoicing.  As long as there is still breath in you, don't stop praising God.  God bless you.

The wisdom and power of God

1 Corinthians  1:24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. From age to ages man has been on the quest to seek after wisdom, power and understanding, but yet, no one has ever been able to come to the level of the wisdom of God. We Try to define what life will be, we try to predict the future with our carnal minded permutations We formulate plans that would make us align through the path of life, yet at the end, foolishness is the result we see... Proverbs  19:21 There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand. As you have started a new journey of 2021, what shall be your wisdom, in planning, in business, in investment, in your education, and in your ministry? What shall be your power?, is it money, position, wealth or your certificate? Remember many has that the previous year, but could not see the end of it. Wisdom is the rightful application of the word of God which
