put away lying Tongue
Ephesians 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
In a world filled with deception and falsehood, the Apostle Paul's letter to the Ephesians provides us with timely guidance on the importance of truthfulness which is one of the virtues of the nature of Christ.
Lying is a deeply rooted problem in our society. From small white lies to elaborate deceit, the art of deception has become far too prevalent. We live in an age of misinformation, where lies are easily spread, causing confusion, division, and pain.
Lying not only damages our relationships with others but also hinders our relationship with God. Our lying tongues disrupt the unity that God desires for His Church, tearing apart the fabric of trust that binds us together.
Paul's exhortation in Ephesians 4:25 calls us to a higher standard. As followers of Christ, we are called to be people of truth. We are instructed to "put off falsehood" and instead speak truthfully to one another. This command is not optional or situational, it applies to every aspect of our lives. Our words should reflect the character of Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Embracing truthfulness is not merely about avoiding falsehoods; it also opens the door to restoration, healing, and growth. Truth has the power to mend broken relationships, reconcile estranged hearts, and bring light into darkness.
When we speak the truth, we honour God and bear witness to His nature of integrity and honesty. By embracing truthfulness, we become instruments of His grace, radiating His light in a world clouded by deceit.
Putting away the lying tongue is a journey that requires intentionality and dependence on God's strength. We must first examine our hearts and acknowledge the ways in which we have fallen short of truthfulness. We ought to seek forgiveness from God and from those we have deceived.
It is through humility and repentance that we can experience transformation. As we submit ourselves to the Holy Spirit, He will empower us to speak the truth with love, wisdom, and discernment.
As members of the body of Christ, we have the responsibility to cultivate a culture of truth within our families, churches, workplaces, and communities. This begins with our individual commitment to truthfulness and extends to the example we set for others.
We must strive to be people of integrity, whose words align with our actions. By doing so, we demonstrate the love of Christ and become beacons of truth in a world yearning for authenticity.
As we embrace truthfulness, let us contiaully reflect the character of our Lord and contribute to the unity, healing, and restoration of His Church. Let us seek the guidance and strength of the Holy Spirit as we embark on this transformative journey. May our words always be seasoned with truth, grace, and love, bringing honour to God and blessing to those around us. Amen.
God bless you.
