Be renewed in the spirit

Ephesians  4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;  4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to be distinct from the world. We are called to live in a manner that reflects the righteousness and holiness of our Creator. This call requires a renewal of our minds, a transformation from within.

Our minds, influenced by the world and its temptations, can become clouded with ungodly thoughts, attitudes, and desires. However, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can experience a renewal that leads to a transformed life.

The process of renewal begins with a conscious decision to surrender our lives to Christ. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us, enabling us to experience a radical change.

This process is not a one-time event but a lifelong journey. It involves a daily commitment to seek God's presence, read His Word, and be sensitive to His guidance.

Renewal also requires us to let go of the old self—the sinful habits, attitudes, and patterns that hinder our spiritual growth. We must be willing to lay aside bitterness, anger, dishonesty, and all forms of unrighteousness. Instead, we are to embrace the new self created in the likeness of God. This new self reflects His character, righteousness, and holiness. It is a life marked by love, compassion, forgiveness, and integrity.

When we allow the Holy Spirit to renew our minds and transform our lives, we will begin to bear the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 reminds us of these fruits: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These qualities are not produced by our own efforts but are the result of the Spirit's work in us. They become evident in our relationships, our actions, and our attitudes.

Renewal also brings about a deepening of our relationship with God. As we draw nearer to Him, we experience His presence, His power, and His peace. Our faith becomes stronger, and we find ourselves relying more on His strength rather than our own. We become more effective witnesses of His love and grace, shining His light in a dark world.

Finally, let us heed the apostle Paul's exhortation to be renewed in the spirit of our minds. May we continually seek the Holy Spirit's transformative power in our lives. As we surrender to God's work within us, He will renew us day by day, molding us into the likeness of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Let us embrace this journey of renewal with joy and expectation, knowing that the Holy Spirit will empower us to live lives that bring honor and glory to our heavenly Father. May we be a living testament to the world of the transformational power of God's love. Amen.

God bless you.
