Peculiar Treasure

Exodus  19:3 And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;  19:4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.  19:5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:  19:6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

God's love for His people is immeasurable, In verse 4, He  reminds the people of Israel of the marvelous deliverance they experienced from the land of Egypt. He says, "You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself."

The Israelites witnessed the power and love of God as He set them free from slavery. This act of deliverance demonstrates God's unwavering commitment to His chosen people, a commitment that extends to us today.

As Christians, we can also testify to the power of God's deliverance. Through Christ, we have been rescued from the bondage of sin and brought into a new life of freedom and grace. God's unconditional love is not limited to the people of Israel but encompasses all who put their faith in Him. We are indeed a peculiar treasure, chosen by God to receive His love and salvation.

Furthermore in verse 5, God establishes a condition for His people to embrace their identity as a treasured possession. He says, "Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession." Obedience and covenant-keeping are essential aspects of our relationship with God.

Through Jesus Christ, we have been called to a new covenant—a covenant of faith and obedience. Our obedience is not a means to earn God's favour but a response to His immeasurable love and grace. When we obey God's commands and align our lives with His will, we demonstrate our love for Him and become living testimonies of His transforming power.

God also reveals His plan for His people in verse 6, saying, "Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation." This declaration is not limited to the Israelites but extends to us as followers of Christ.

As a kingdom of priests, we are called to intercede on behalf of others, to bring their needs before God, and to share the good news of salvation. We are called to live holy lives, set apart for God's purposes, reflecting His character and love to a world in need. We have been entrusted with the precious responsibility of being ambassadors of God's kingdom, representing His grace and truth to all nations.

In conclusion, we must know as believers that we are not ordinary beings wandering aimlessly in this world. We are God's peculiar treasure, chosen and loved by Him.

Through the deliverance we have experienced in Christ, we have become recipients of His unconditional love. In response to this love, we are called to obey His commands and walk in alignment with His will. As we embrace our identity as a treasured possession, we are empowered to live as a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.

God bless you.
