Vengeance

Romans  12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

The word vengeance is the act of doing something to hurt someone because that person did something  that hurt you, in the  first place. It is to retaliate. Revenge/retaliation is natural thing for man.

The Bible teaches that when someone hurts you deeply, instead of giving him what he deserves, forgive and even befriend him (Rom 12:17-21). For a natural man, this is impossible, but a Christian should not seek to get even with someone who has wronged him.

You must not seek revenge. Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us not to react to the wrongs done on us in the spirit of hate, but in a way that shows that we are His, and that our values are centered on Christ and His kingdoms.

Our actions should be such that it might lead them to accept Christ as their saviour. Are you a Christian? Demonstrate it by acts of forgiveness.

Forgiveness breaks the cycle of retaliation, and leads to mutual reconciliation. It makes the enemy feel ashamed, and change his/her ways.

When we are wronged, often, our first reaction is to revenge. Instead, jesus says we should do good to those who wrong us, our desire should not be to keep score, but to love and forgive.

By loving and praying for our enemies, we can overcome evil with good. (Matt. 5:45-48)

God bless you.
