God does as He please

Psalms  115:3 But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.

God does as He pleases, not in a way that is self-serving or indifferent, but in a way that is perfect, loving, and wise.

Firstly, we  must acknowledge God’s Sovereignty and Authority. When the Psalmist says, “Our God is in the heavens; He does all that He pleases,” he is declaring God’s absolute sovereignty. Being in the heavens is a picture of authority, elevation, and power. God is above us, in every way, and His will is never limited by our understanding or our circumstances.

Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us that God’s thoughts and ways are far higher than ours. He sees what we cannot see, knows what we cannot know, and His plans are perfect. Because He does as He pleases, we can trust that everything He does is ultimately for our good and His glory. His authority and wisdom mean that no purpose of His can be thwarted.

When we say that God “does as He pleases,” we’re also acknowledging His complete freedom. God is not restricted by time, by circumstance, or by any force outside of Himself. He has the power to accomplish His will because there is no obstacle He cannot overcome, no problem He cannot solve, and no enemy He cannot defeat.

The Bible shows us time and time again that God’s power is boundless. He spoke the world into existence. He parted the Red Sea. He raised Jesus from the dead. Nothing is too hard for Him. Jeremiah 32:17 says, "Ah, Lord God! It is You who have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for You."

Nevertheless, sometimes, it can be difficult to accept that God does as He pleases, especially when His plans don’t match our expectations. We may question, "God, why did You allow this to happen?" or "God, why did You not answer my prayer the way I wanted?"

This is where we need to remember that God’s choices are not only powerful but wise and good. He sees the bigger picture that we cannot see, and He works in ways we cannot always understand.

Romans 8:28 reminds us that He is able to work “all things together for good, for those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.” Even when we don’t understand, we can rest in the assurance that God’s actions flow out of His perfect love for us.

When Jesus was on the cross, God’s purpose was being fulfilled, though it looked like failure to the world. Yet, God was pleased to accomplish salvation through the death and resurrection of His Son. His goodness brought about the greatest act of redemption, even though it came through suffering. If we look back, we can see His wisdom, goodness, and love working in every detail.

Finally, If God does as He pleases, then our response should be trust and surrender. We are not called to control or understand everything—only to trust the One who does. In Proverbs 3:5-6, we’re encouraged to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.”

This doesn’t mean we can’t bring our desires, concerns, and questions to God. It means we bring them to Him with open hands, saying, "Lord, Your will be done." Surrender is about letting go of our need to control outcomes and trusting that God’s plans are far better than our own.

In conclusion,  having the understanding that God is sovereign over all that happens, let us place our full trust in Him, surrendering our desires to His will, and living with the assurance that our God is always at work for our good and His glory.

God bless you.
