The Lord's ear is not heavy

Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. 59:3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

The verses above contain a powerful reminder that the Lord's ear is not too heavy to hear our prayers, and that no matter how distant we may feel from God, He is always near to us.

Isaiah 59:1-3 says, "Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue has muttered perversity."

In these verses, we see a picture of a people who have turned away from God, and as a result, find themselves separated from Him. But notice that it is not God who has turned away from them, but rather they who have turned away from God. It is their sins that have caused a barrier between them and God, not His lack of willingness to hear their prayers.

But even in the midst of their sin and separation from God, Isaiah reminds the people that God's hand is not too short to save, and His ear is not too heavy to hear their prayers. God is always willing to forgive and restore us, if we turn back to Him and repent of our sins.

We may feel unworthy or ashamed to come before God because of our sins, but we must remember that it is not our own righteousness that makes us acceptable to God, but the righteousness of Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again to give us new life.

In 1 John 1:9, we read, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." This is the promise that we can hold onto, that if we come before God in humble repentance, He will forgive us and restore us to fellowship with Him.

Dear beloved, let us not be discouraged by our sins or feel like God's ear is too heavy to hear our prayers. Let us instead turn to Him in repentance and faith, and trust in His unfailing love and mercy.

May we always remember that no matter how far we may have strayed, God is always ready and willing to welcome us back into His loving embrace.

God bless you.
