Corrupt Communication

Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Corrupt communication means any form of speech that is harmful, negative, or dishonest. It includes lying, gossiping, insulting, and using foul language. When we engage in such communication, we not only hurt others but also damage our own character.

The Bible emphasizes the power of words. Our words have the ability to build others up or tear them down. Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit." Therefore, it is important that we choose our words carefully and speak in a way that edifies others.

why should we should avoid corrupt communication?

Firstly, it displeases God. Colossians 3:8 says, "But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips." As believers, we are called to live holy lives, and our speech is an integral part of it.

Secondly, corrupt communication damages relationships. When we speak negatively about others or use hurtful language, we hurt their feelings and break their trust. Moreover, such communication can create a negative atmosphere, leading to conflict and division.

Thirdly, corrupt communication damages ourselves. When we engage in gossip or speak in a hurtful manner, we become desensitized to the harm it causes. Over time, we may become more negative and cynical, damaging our own character and relationships.

Ways to avoid corrupt communication

Firstly, we need to be aware of our words. We should pause before we speak and ask ourselves if what we are about to say is edifying and truthful.

Secondly, we should seek to build others up with our words. We should encourage, support, and affirm others, using our words to inspire and uplift.

we should seek to speak the truth in love. Ephesians 4:15 says, "Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ." We should seek to speak honestly and openly, but always with kindness and respect.

let us strive to use our words to bring life and edification to those around us. Let us avoid corrupt communication and seek to speak the truth in love.

God bless you.
