Obedience

Isaiah 1:19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

As believers, we are called to live a life of obedience to God's commands. Obedience is not always easy, and we may face challenges and temptations along the way. However, the rewards of obedience are great, as we will see from Isaiah 1:19. In this scripture, God promises blessings to those who are willing and obedient.

Obedience is not just blindly following rules, but it is a heart posture of submitting to God's authority and trusting in His wisdom and guidance.

It involves surrendering our will and desires to God and choosing to follow His commands, even when it may be difficult or uncomfortable. Obedience is an act of faith, as it requires trusting that God knows what is best for us and has our ultimate good in mind.

Obedience is crucial in our relationship with God. It is a demonstration of our love for Him and a reflection of our faith in Him. Without obedience, our faith is empty and meaningless.

Jesus himself said in John 14:15, "If you love me, keep my commands." Obedience also helps us to grow spiritually and mature in our faith, as it aligns us with God's will and leads us on the right path. It protects us from the harmful consequences of disobedience and helps us avoid falling into sin and temptation.

    The Blessings of Obedience

Isaiah 1:19 states, "If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land." This verse highlights the blessings that come from obedience to God. Let's explore some of these blessings:

a. Provision and abundance: When we are obedient to God's commands, He promises to provide for our needs and bless us with abundance. This includes not only material blessings but also blessings of peace, joy, and contentment in our hearts.

b. Protection and guidance: Obedience keeps us under the protective care of God. He guides us in the right direction and shields us from harm. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

c. Favor and success: Obedience opens doors of favor and opportunities for us. When we walk in obedience to God's word, He goes before us and makes our paths smooth. He gives us wisdom and discernment to make right decisions, leading to success and fulfillment in our endeavors.

d. Intimacy with God: Obedience draws us closer to God and deepens our relationship with Him. When we are willing and obedient, we open ourselves up to experience God's presence, love, and fellowship in a more profound way. Psalm 119:2 says, "Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart."

As we reflect on Isaiah 1:19, we are reminded of the importance of obedience in our walk with God. Obedience is not always easy, but the blessings that come from it are worth it

Let us strive to be willing and obedient to God's commands, knowing that He has our best interests at heart and desires to bless us abundantly.

God bless you.
