Total Submission
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Literally, submission is the action of accepting or yielding to a superior force or to the will and authority of another person.
Submission to God means saying no to your own purposes, letting go of your desires and accepting God's will without question. It may be quite difficult. but submission to God is the best way one can enjoy the fullness of His grace, power and blessings.
At the creation of man, God being a supreme being and most powerful demands respect, honour and submission from us whom He has created in His own image. So He gave laws of love to follow so as to remain in His will and Purpose.
These laws were overruled by the devil through Eve and ever since then satan has become our slave master. Since then we have been navigating in the darkness of this world, He took over our thoughts and actions and drives us towards the path of Hell.
But for anyone to be free from the bondage of the devil, such must be ready to submit his/her totality to God.
His will must be the foundation of your desire, His purpose must be your compass through the jungle of life. If patiently accepted, we will never regret doing so.
Gains of Submission .
1. The power to resist
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
By submitting our totality to God we have the power to resist the devil, It is His power that give dominion over the kingdom of darkness, but you can't have access to it without first submitting to God.
You can't be hording your life away from God and expect the devil to tremble before you, you will always fall a thousand times before him.
Have you ever wondered why you kept falling into the same sin time over time?, do you ever noticed why you experience troubles and sorrows through your journey? If not for the unwillingness to submit your totality to God.
Submitting your whole to God means you do not trust in your own power to save yourself, but trust the power of God,.
Before Jesus could have power over death, grave, sin and the devil, He first submitted His whole despite being God in man, He recognizes the need to.
Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
This made Him to redeem it back at resurrection and all powers given to Him.
The level of your exploit in God is determined by the level of your submissiveness
2. The full package of God's blessing.
Deuteronomy 28:1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 28:2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
This is one verse that we are very familiar with, it expressly define the requirement for the full package of God's blessing.
Consider If thou shall harken diligently... This means to listen and pay attention to the commands, to give full and total concentration to something.
We can never experience the divine blessing of God if we handle God as a part time friend.
He demands our whole time, he demands our full attention, everything we do or plan to do must be inline with His divine purpose.
Total submission requires your whole life, both the soul, spirit and body, none must be kept away from God.
If you truly wish to enjoy the fullness of God's grace, then you must submit all of your desire, will, life, actions, body and soul.
