Do not rob God
Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
According to the law, a tenth of the produce and livestock was to be given to God for the sustenance of the levites. Levites are the tribe which the Lord commanded never to work but but to be priest to him continually. In other to provide for their sustenance God commanded all other tribe to feed them through the tenth of their proceeds.
The people were robbing God in that they were not giving that which was required by the law. During the days of Haggai, the land was suffering from drought because the people were being indifferent concerning the reconstruction of the temple. The same situation prevailed because the people were being stingy in their offerings. They were consuming the tithes and the offerings on themselves, rather than bringing it to the temple for the priest.
God did not and do not demand tithes and offering from those who do not work, neither from those who are poor, he demanded tithes from those who had worked and were blessed with profits, this is in a bid to feed the levites who were specifically chosen to work in the house of God.
Today, we rob God in many ways, God commanded holiness and righteousness in our ways of life, but we rob him of our life and treaded with the devil, forgetting that our God is a jealous God.
Anything you do contrary to the commands of God is a direct rob of His commands. It was God's commandment that the other tribes should provide for the levites through tithes and offerings, keeping it away from God is ribbing God.
After God has blessed the works of your hand, why should you keep the tithe away from Him which is expected to cater for the welfare of His servants who help your spiritual growth?
The position you are at your place of work which you refuse to use for the glory of God is a direct rob of God.
The evangelism God commands which you find difficult to do is an act of robbing of God
The places God commands you to go, the widow, orphans and the needy God commands you to take care of which you refuse is an act of robbing of God.
Your children that you refuse to show the way of the Lord is an act of robbing God.
The truth is, everything you own, your life, education, career, family, marriage, children, business etc all belong to God.
Malachi 3:9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. In most case devil use this medium to attack our life because we are directly disobeying the commands of God.
God's promises towards anyone who obey and do according as He has commanded is eternal. Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 3:11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.
Stop robbing God, whatever he has commanded you to do, do it so you will avoid the attacks of the devil and God's anger.
