The Cost of being God's Friend

James  2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

After losing everything he held dear,  job looked back and longed for the days when God's friendship graced his home,  his children were around and everything was going fine.

Maybe you can remember days like that in your own life,  we've been conditioned to think of friendship in terms of the benefits it confers,  but being God's friend comes with a price.

It costs time,  selflessness,  thoughtfulness,  absolute trust and very often suffering.

Those who are intimately close feel the hurts and joy of the ones they love more than anyone else.

True intimacy means a death to our own selfish desires.  Abraham was called God's friend but the friendship came at a price.

We read,  Abraham believed God,  when He was asked to leave his father's house to an unknown location,

At age 93 he believed God will still make good of his promise of a son and heir.  Then Isaac was born and God upped the ante by asking his friend to make the supreme sacrifice,  the Bible says  'by faith Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice'.

Being God's friend is not determined when you are in good times.

Being God's friend is never determined by what you get from him

Being God's friend is determined by doing everything he requested from you.

Being God's friend is determined mostly when you are passing through the difficult situations of life.

Joseph chooses prison instead of sex,  Apostles chooses the ministry instead of family and career

Moses chooses slavery instead of a prince and Palace...

It was all accounted to them as righteousness...

Can you pay the price to be God's friend?..

God help you as you decide.

Have a blessed day.
