Asking in the name of God

John  14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

In the verses above, Jesus provides us with profound guidance on prayer and seeking God's intervention in our lives. It's a reminder that prayer is not just a simple act of talking to God, but an opportunity to align our desires and intentions with the divine will.

Asking in the name of God means recognizing the authority and sovereignty of God in our lives. It's an acknowledgment that we are not seeking our own desires, but rather, we are seeking God's will to be done.

When we approach God with a pure heart and motives that glorify Him, our prayers become a powerful conduit for His grace and blessings.

This passage reminds us of a few key principles:

1. In the Name of Jesus: When we ask in the name of Jesus, we are invoking His authority and character. We are essentially saying, "I ask this according to your will, Lord." This demonstrates our faith in Jesus as our mediator and Saviour.

2. God's Glory: Our prayers should ultimately aim to glorify God. We may have personal needs and desires, but when we ask in His name, our primary concern becomes His glory. This reflects our love and devotion to God.

3. God's Response: The promise in these verses is clear. when we ask in His name, He will do it. It doesn't mean we will always receive exactly what we ask for in the way we expect, but it means that God will respond according to His wisdom and love.

So, how do we apply this to our lives? We should approach prayer with sincerity, humility, and faith. We should strive to align our requests with God's will, remembering that His plans are far greater than our own.

We must also be persistent in prayer, trusting that God hears us and responds in His perfect timing.

In conclusion, asking in the name of God is not a formula for getting everything we want, but a profound way to deepen our relationship with God, seek His will, and ultimately bring glory to Him.

God bless you.
