The author and finisher of Faith

Hebrews  12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

This message calls  us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. We are in a world filled with uncertainties, distractions, and challenges, this verse provides us with a clear and reassuring focus: Jesus Christ, the beginning and end of our faith journey.

The word "author" describes Jesus as the originator, the one who initiates our faith. He initiates the first steps of our faith journey. Our faith is not self-generated; it is a divine gift given to us by God through Jesus Christ. When we come to faith, it is because Jesus has drawn us to Himself. He plants the seed of faith in our hearts, enabling us to believe and trust in Him.

Also the word "finisher" signifies that Jesus brings our faith to completion. He perfects, sustains, and sees our faith through to its fulfillment. Our journey of faith is not without obstacles, trials, and temptations. Yet, Jesus remains faithful, guiding us, strengthening us, and helping us to persevere until the end. He is the one who ensures that the good work He began in us will be carried on to completion.

The call to "look unto Jesus" is an invitation to maintain a steadfast focus on Him. In the midst of life's storms, distractions, and temptations, we are to keep our gaze fixed on Jesus. 

By doing so, we are reminded of His love, sacrifice, and faithfulness. This focus empowers us to live out our faith boldly and confidently, knowing that Jesus is with us every step of the way.

There will be many temptations that would want to distract our attention from our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ, such as economy instability, sickness, delayed in answered prayers, lust of the flesh, natural disaster ans even death. Nevertheless, in the face of this trials and tribulations, we must always look unto Jesus who is our perfect example and model for our faith journey. 

In conclusion, as we journey through life, let us always remember that Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. He began this good work in us, and He will bring it to completion. Let us look to Him in every circumstance, trusting in His enduring love and faithfulness. May our lives be a testimony to His grace, and may we run the race set before us with perseverance, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, our Savior and King. Amen.
