God loves a cheerful giver

2 Corinthians  9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Giving is one of the act of faith that strengthens the body of Christ, but in doing so, we must give cheerfully and not grudgingly.  Apostle Paul emphasizes that giving should come from the heart. "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give." This teaches us that our generosity should not be driven by external pressures or obligations but by a genuine desire to bless others.

Giving, when done from the heart, reflects our love for God and our fellow human beings. It is an expression of our faith and trust in God's provision.

But on the other hand we are warned not to give reluctantly, this is when we give with hesitation, holding back and perhaps even resenting the act of giving.

Similarly, giving under compulsion means we are motivated by guilt, pressure, or a sense of duty rather than love. Such attitudes strip away the joy and blessing that come with true generosity.

God does not want us to give out of a sense of obligation or with a grudging spirit. Instead, He desires that our giving be an act of worship and gratitude. When we give cheerfully, we acknowledge that everything we have comes from God and that we are merely stewards of His blessings.

"For God loves a cheerful giver."  God delights in our joy and our willingness to give. Cheerful giving is marked by a sense of joy, freedom, and excitement. It is a reflection of a heart that trusts in God’s goodness and abundance. When we give cheerfully, we experience the joy that comes from aligning our hearts with God’s heart.

Cheerful giving also impacts those around us. It inspires and encourages others to give, creating a ripple effect of generosity and blessing. Our cheerful giving can become a testimony of God's love and provision, drawing others closer to Him.

Also, we are remained of the blessings that come with generosity. Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously." God's principles of sowing and reaping assure us that our generosity will not go unnoticed or unrewarded.

While the blessings of generosity are not always material, they are profound and life-changing. We experience the joy of seeing lives transformed, needs met, and God's kingdom advanced. Moreover, God promises to provide for us abundantly so that we can continue to be generous. Verse 8 reassures us, "And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."

In conclusion, let us ask ourselves, are we giving out of reluctance or compulsion, or are we giving cheerfully and willingly? Let us remember that God loves a cheerful giver, and in giving cheerfully, we align ourselves with His generous and loving nature.

God bless you.
