Waiting upon the Lord
Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Waiting upon the Lord is an active demonstration of faith and trust in God's timing and sovereignty. In a world that values immediacy and instant gratification, waiting upon the Lord may seem counterintuitive. However, it is during these seasons of waiting that our faith is refined, our character is molded, and our strength is renewed.
Firstly, waiting upon the Lord requires patience. Patience is not the absence of action but rather the ability to wait calmly and confidently, knowing that God is at work behind the scenes. Just as a farmer patiently waits for the harvest after planting the seeds, we too must patiently wait for God's promises to come to fruition in our lives.
Secondly, waiting upon the Lord involves trusting His perfect timing. Often, we may grow restless and anxious when our prayers seem to go unanswered or when circumstances do not align with our desires. However, God's timing is always perfect, and He knows what is best for us. As the psalmist declares in Psalm 27:14, "Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!"
Thirdly, waiting upon the Lord requires perseverance. It is easy to become discouraged and weary while waiting for breakthroughs, healing, or answers to prayers.
Yet, we are reminded in Galatians 6:9, "Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up." Even when the journey seems long and arduous, we must continue to press on with unwavering faith, knowing that God is faithful to fulfill His promises.
Lastly, waiting upon the Lord leads to spiritual renewal and strength. Just as eagles soar high above the storms, those who wait upon the Lord are lifted above the challenges and trials of life.
In our waiting, God equips us with supernatural strength to endure, overcome, and thrive. He empowers us to run the race set before us without growing weary and to walk in His ways without fainting.
In conclusion, Let us not be discouraged by the waiting season, but rather let us embrace it as an opportunity for spiritual growth and renewal. For in due time, God will fulfill His promises, and we will soar on wings like eagles, running and walking in His strength.
God bless you.
