First Fruit

Deuteronomy  18:4 The firstfruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou give him.  18:5 For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons for ever.  18:6 And if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD shall choose;

God instructs the Israelites to give the first fruits of their harvest to the Levites, emphasizing the importance of honouring Him with the best of their produce.

Just as the Israelites were called to present their initial harvest to the Lord, we too are reminded to offer our "first fruits" in various aspects of our lives.

This concept extends beyond agriculture to our time, talents, and treasures. It encourages us to prioritize God in our daily endeavours, recognizing that all we have is ultimately a gift from Him.

In giving the first fruits, we express gratitude for God's provision and acknowledge His sovereignty over our lives. It's a tangible way to demonstrate trust in His faithfulness, knowing that as we honour Him with our best, He will continue to bless and sustain us.

Moreover, the act of presenting our first fruits is an act of worship. It goes beyond mere ritual; it symbolises a heart that seeks to please God above all else. It prompts us to examine our priorities, ensuring that God takes precedence in our decisions and actions.

As we continue to love our life, let us consider the areas in our lives where we can offer our "first fruits" to God. Whether it's our time spent in prayer, the use of our talents for His glory, or our financial resources devoted to His kingdom, may we be intentional in giving God the first and best of what we have.

In doing so, we align ourselves with the timeless principle of honouring God with our first fruits, trusting that as we seek His kingdom first, all other things will fall into place (Matthew 6:33). Let us cultivate a spirit of generosity, gratitude, and devotion, knowing that God delights in a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7).

May this reminder inspire us to live lives characterized by the joyful presentation of our first fruits to the One who deserves our utmost devotion and praise. Amen.

God bless you.
