Denying ungodliness and worldly lust

Titus  2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,  2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Though God was patient and forgiving with the sins of those who lived under the old testament, His grace was not fully known until the incarnation and Jesus' death on the cross. 

It was on the cross that God manifested that He loved us even in our state of sin. Since the grace of God has been manifested to all men, then it is God's desire that all men obediently respond to His will. 

Naturally before salvation, our life had been subjected to ungodliness and worldly lust, but the appearing of the grace of God through the life and death of Jesus Christ opens our heart to the new nature of God. 

God's grace helps believers in Christ to reject ungodly living. In addition, it helps us reject sinful desires. God's grace trains us, or teaches us, to avoid behaviors that are sinful. 

 

It is expectant of anyone who has identified him/herself with God to live according to the nature of the spirit of God which is evidence in righteousness, holiness, godly and soberly living. 

We are not of this world, our citizenship is of the kingdom of God, we should not then let the world influence us by its desires and will. 

You cannot deny flesh and worldly lust all by your own self, else you will continually fall back to sin every now and then, but when you submit yourself to the grace of God which is manifested in Christ Jesus, it will teach you, guide you and gives you the spirit of self denial against the flesh and worldly lust. 

The grace helps believers to live above sin and its affections. Surrender your life to His grace in Christ Jesus today and you will be able to deny ungodliness and worldly lust, thereby making you to live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world.
