Jesus appraise the Widow
Mark 12:42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. 12:43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: 12:44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
Jesus Christ supervised the treasury during a voluntary giving in the temple. in the process, a widow's offering was noticed by Christ and he called the attention of his disciples.. Saying.. She gave her all out of her poverty... Making her to be the best giver out of those who contributed.
The materialist will never understand why this widow gave so much. Her thanksgiving for what God has done for her motivated her to give all that she had.
She had to make the sacrifice in order to pour forth her thanksgiving to God. Christianity is of little value to those who are not willing to sacrifice for their faith.
Through sacrifice comes growth. But those who are not willing to make sacrifices for their faith will experience little spiritual growth. Those who come to Jesus must check their motives lest they seek to associate with the people of God in order to see what they can receive.
The point of this story is that the widow was noticed by God, not by the measure of her giving but by the motive and sacrificial heart she had. She didn't dropped it because it was mandated, but she did out of love for the things of God.
Remember, she had no means of financial support, her husband which was once the pillar of her strength is gone, nothing was left for her to cater for her wellbeing, yet out of her lack, she brought all she had to the temple. No wonder she was noticed by Christ.
What have you been doing for God and humanity which you think God didn't notice it? You may have spent your time, money, all you have to support the works of God and to put smile on people's faces just like the widow, do you know God notices all.
All the good you are doing are well documented before the God of the universe
Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Don't be weary in doing the good things God has commited in your hands, don't stop even if you do not receive the praise of men. In any area you have been devoting yourself, don't be weary because God is noticing you and will reward you in due time.
God bless you.
