The Mystery of the Kingdom of God (1)The unwilling heart Matthew 13: 3-7
Matthew 13:3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; 13:4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
Our heart is the temple of the living God where His spirit resides and communicate to our spirit for smooth relationship. "1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?"
As much as God desires to dwell among men through His spirit, man has the control of the heart whether to accept the visitation of God through His word or to reject it as He knocks the door of our heart daily." Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."
But sadly many have an unwilling heart, not ready to accept the peace, joy and everlasting rest God offers through Christ His son.
Some of the unwilling hearts are explained in the parable of Christ to His disciples in Matthew 13:3-7. They are as follows :
1. The Hardened Path:
Some hearts are like the path where the seed cannot take root. These are hearts hardened by indifference, legalistic church doctrines, skepticism, or a refusal to receive the Word. The birds, symbolizing distractions and temptations, quickly snatch away the message before it can penetrate.
2. The Rocky Ground:
The rocky places signify hearts that receive the Word with initial enthusiasm but lack depth. When faced with challenges or persecution, these hearts wither away because they lack the roots necessary for sustained growth. It teaches us the importance of developing a deep and enduring faith.
3. Among the Thorns:
Seeds falling among thorns illustrate hearts entangled in the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth. Such hearts allow the worries and distractions of life to choke the spiritual growth. This reminds us of the need to prioritize our spiritual well-being amidst life's demands.
As we contemplate these scenarios, let us examine our own hearts. Are we receptive to the Word, or is our heart unwilling? Do we allow distractions, shallowness, or worldly concerns to hinder our spiritual growth?
May we strive to cultivate a fertile and willing heart. Let the Word of God take root deeply within us, so we may bear fruit in abundance. Failure to receive this word in our heart will result to fruitlessness and eternal damnation.
God bless you.
