Speaking God's word with boldness
Acts 4:29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, 4:30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
Peter and John faced opposition for healing a lame man in the name of Jesus. Threatened by the authorities, they sought strength through prayer with fellow believers.
In their petition, they asked for boldness to continue speaking God's word in the face of the hostile opposition. They knew that because the world hated Jesus, it would hate them too.
The disciples' immediate response to adversity was prayer. Likewise, we are called to seek God's strength through prayer, acknowledging our dependence on Him to embolden our proclamation of His word.
Speaking God's word with boldness is crucial in a world that often challenges and opposes the truths of the Gospel. Our faith requires courage to stand firm and share the good news, regardless of the circumstances.
Acts 4:31 emphasizes the role of the Holy Spirit. As believers, we are not left on our own to muster courage. The Holy Spirit empowers us, enabling us to speak with boldness and authority.
Fear can hinder our ability to share God's word boldly. However, Acts 4 reminds us that God's power is greater than our fears. Trusting in His strength allows us to overcome fear and boldly proclaim His truth.
The disciples prayed together, emphasizing the importance of unity in seeking boldness. As a community of believers, we can encourage and support one another, fostering an environment where boldness in sharing God's word can flourish.
In conclusion, whenever we are faced with fear and anxiety while preaching the good news of Christ, we should approach God in prayer, seeking His strength and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. In a world that desperately needs the hope found in God's word, let us boldly proclaim the truths of the Gospel with unwavering confidence, trusting in the One who has overcome the world.
God bless you.
