Rest in the Lord
Psalms 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
We are in a world filled with hustle and bustle, demands and distractions, it can be challenging to find true rest and peace. But the Lord, in His infinite wisdom, invites us to rest in Him, and in doing so, we find a profound and lasting sense of tranquility.
It is easy to become overwhelmed and anxious. Yet, God's Word reminds us to "rest in the Lord." This call is an invitation to come before Him in quietness, to lay our burdens at His feet, and to find refuge in His presence.
What does it mean to rest in the Lord? It's an invitation to release our burdens, worries, and anxieties into His caring hands. To trust in His faithfulness and sovereignty, knowing that He is in control. When we rest in the Lord, we acknowledge that we are not in this journey of life alone, but that God is our refuge and strength.
The second part of the verse instructs us to "wait patiently for Him." Waiting can be challenging in our fast-paced world, but this waiting is different. It's not a passive waiting but an active one. Waiting on the Lord means seeking His guidance, listening for His voice, and obeying His will. It's a patient, expectant waiting, knowing that God's timing is perfect.
Resting in the Lord doesn't mean that we will be exempt from trials and tribulations. Instead, it means that we can find strength and peace in the midst of life's challenges. When we rest in the Lord, we are tapping into His limitless resources and receiving His supernatural peace that surpasses all understanding.
The Rewards of Rest
As we choose to rest in the Lord and patiently wait for Him, we discover remarkable rewards. These include:
1. Peace that surpasses understanding: The world may be in turmoil, but we can find a profound sense of peace in the midst of it by resting in the Lord.
2. Renewed strength: Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that "those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength." When we rest in God, He renews us, allowing us to face life's challenges with resilience and faith.
3. Wisdom and guidance: In stillness, we can better hear God's voice and receive His guidance for our lives.
In conclusion, "Rest in the Lord" is not merely an invitation to relax physically but a call to find solace for our souls in the One who created us. By being still before the Lord and waiting patiently for Him, we can experience a depth of peace and spiritual rejuvenation that the world cannot provide.
God bless you.
