know whom you believe
2 Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Paul's statement begins with, "For this cause, I also suffer these things." Throughout his life, Paul faced trials, persecution, and hardships.
Yet, he was unshaken and not ashamed. Why? Because he had an unwavering trust in God's faithfulness. In our own lives, we will face challenges, but we must remember that our faith is not in the circumstances but in the faithful God who can see us through.
Paul's declaration, "for I know whom I have believed," reminds us that our faith is not blind or based on mere tradition. We are called to know, intimately and personally, the God we believe in. This knowledge comes through prayer, study of His Word, and a deep, personal relationship with Him.
He also proclaims, "and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day." Our faith should be anchored in the unwavering conviction that God is all-powerful and trustworthy.
Whatever we entrust to Him, be it our hopes, dreams, struggles, or the well-being of our loved ones, He is able to keep it safe until the day of His glorious return.
These words provide us with the assurance of our salvation. As believers, we can be confident that our faith in Christ is not in vain. It is grounded in the unchanging character of God and sealed by the Holy Spirit. Knowing whom you have believed ensures that you will stand firm in your faith even in the face of trials and tribulations.
Also, knowing whom you believe establish confidence to face whatever persecution or shame that comes to those who identify themselves with the maker. Knowing fully well the promises of eternal life that surpasses the present pain that awaits us.
The question do you know whom you believe?
In conclusion. it is vital for us as believers to hold onto the unchanging truth that we know whom we have believed. Let us draw strength from this knowledge to face life's challenges with unwavering faith, knowing that God's faithfulness and power will see us through.
