The reward of obedience

Joshua  22:4 And now the LORD your God hath given rest unto your brethren, as he promised them: therefore now return ye, and get you unto your tents, and unto the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side Jordan.

God promised Abraham to give his generation a land as their possession, a country that flows with milk and honey, a country that will be their heritage forever. 

It could have been fulfilled faster than expected, but sin made the promises of God be prolonged. The children of israelite became slaves for four hundred years and more, yet God still stand on His promises 

With a mighty hand He brought them out, and set them on the journey to the promise land, which initially should take forty days, but due to disobedience, it took them forty years. 

Finally God brought them to the land, as promised, and gave unto them as inheritance through Joshua moses' successor. 

Joshua called on the Reubenites, Gadites and parth of Manasseh to acknowledge their obedience, their faithfulness and dedication towards God and his servants both to moses and him. 

Joshua  22:1 Then Joshua called the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh,

Joshua  22:2 And said unto them, Ye have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you:  22:3 Ye have not left your brethren these many days unto this day, but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God.

God will never break His covenant with His people, it is only man that breaks covenant.

The promises of God will never come to pass until we have faithfully and diligently obeyed all His instructions for our lives.

Prophet Isaiah said "Isaiah  1:19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:".  But sadly today, many of us want to eat the fruit of the land without obeying the instructions given.

Thousands of souls died in the wilderness while coming from Egypt due to their disobedience with God, but in spite of that, the faithful and obedient ones saw the fulfilment of the promises. 

The journey is not for the swift, its for the obedient, it is not how much you are active in church activities, it is how well you are obeying God's words.

What are you still struggling with God?, what has He told you to do, but you refuse to do them?, you can never receive His promised blessings if you are not obedient to His set rules and instructions.

Your disobedience can hinder or delay God's promises over your life. 

God gives reward for obedience... It can be yours both now and eternal, if you start to obey Him today.
