You must be ready
Luke 12:35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; 12:36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
Jesus Christ gave a clear instruction to to the disciples on His way to Jerusalem from Galilee. The lesson in this instruction is similar to the one given in the parable of the ten virgins.
Jesus' emphasis is that the servants be ready through active service in kingdom business and being at alert with spiritual consciousness will guarantee the success in God and being qualify for the master's return
One must be prepared for the master by maintaining service. Those who have a heart of service will always be watching for the master. They are looking for the coming of the master because they are ready.
Our life in this world is a journey, our aboard is the kingdom of God which is yet to come, but the coming of the Son of God is eminent and every disciples of His must be ready for His second coming anytime and any day.
There will definitely be distractions which will want to take our attention away from waiting on Him, like anxiety of riches and wealth, how to make a living, war, natural disaster among others.
But the question is, are you ready?
Jesus says we always need to be ready, because we never know when he will come again. Being ready means getting right with God by trusting in Jesus Christ.
Unless we have prayed to receive Jesus as Saviour and Lord, we are not ready. How can we possibly be prepared to meet Jesus if we have not asked him to forgive our sins? Being ready also means having a sense of urgency about sharing the gospel.
Other people need to be ready to meet Jesus, too. He is coming very soon. But how will people be ready to meet him unless someone loves them enough to give them the gospel?
Being ready means praying for the kingdom to come, asking God to expand his rule in our own lives, in the church, in our community, and around the world. It also means devoting our lives to Christian service.
Given what the parable says about servants and masters, probably this should be our primary application. If we are God’s servants, then we need to be busy teaching God’s Word, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, visiting prisoners, caring for children, helping the elderly, or doing whatever humble service we have the ability and the opportunity to do.
Time is short, and we need to make the most of it. The Son of Man may come today, tonight, or tomorrow. But whenever he comes, Jesus says we must be ready.
Are you ready, or not?
As a soldier of Christ, you must always be ready and thirst for His return. It can be anytime, it can be now.
God bless you.
