Excellent Sacrifice

Hebrews  11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

Sacrifices are our devotion of service to God, it is giving to the Lord whatever He requires of our time, our earthly possessions.

God demanded a sacrifice from both Cain and Abel, the outcome of their individual sacrifices represent the state of their heart. Go's rejected cain's sacrifice but was pleased with that of Abel   because he offered an excellent sacrifice.

Let us consider some things to more about thr sacrifice of Abel.

1. Faithful Obedience: Abel's sacrifice was not merely an act of ritualistic obedience but stemmed from a heart filled with faith. He offered the best of his flock, demonstrating his trust and obedience to God's command. In our lives, an excellent sacrifice begins with faith-filled obedience to God's will, even when it requires us to give of our best.

2. Heartfelt Devotion: Abel's offering was not just about the physical act of giving; it was a reflection of his deep devotion to God. He gave with sincerity and love, knowing that God deserves nothing but the best. Likewise, our sacrifices are elevated when they are infused with heartfelt devotion, transcending mere actions to become expressions of love and reverence towards our Creator.

3. A Sacrifice of Worship: Abel's offering was an act of worship, a way for him to honor and glorify God. In our lives, every sacrifice we make—whether it be our time, talents, or resources—should be offered with a heart of worship, recognizing God's sovereignty and worthiness of our praise.

4. A Better Offering: Hebrews tells us that Abel's sacrifice was "better" than Cain's. What made it better was not the material value of the offering but the condition of the heart behind it. An excellent sacrifice is not measured by its outward appearance but by the sincerity and purity of the motives behind it.

As we reflect on the story of Abel, let us examine our own lives and consider the sacrifices we bring before God. Are they marked by faith, devotion, and worship? Are they pleasing to the Lord?

Many only offer  sacrifices that come from a bitter and sinful  heart, some were made as a show off which indicate man's ego ans pride. Such sacrifices are never acceptable to God even if it is accepted by man.

In conclusion, let us strive to emulate the example of Abel, offering our lives as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God (Romans 12:1). And may our sacrifices be excellent in His sight, bringing glory and honor to His name. Amen.

God bless you.
