Don't run with uncertainty

1 Corinthians  9:26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:  9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

The christian journey is like a race, the moment we accepted Christ as Lord and personal saviour is the day we commence our race. It is not in competing with anyone in other to get a price but competing with ourselves in other to finish the race in Christ and not in the flesh. Whereby at the end, we get a price.

As many run a race with uncertainty, or with a doubtful mind,  the Christian race must be the one with a purpose.

In the verses above,  Apostle Paul uses the analogy of a runner and a boxer to convey a profound spiritual truth: the importance of running life's race with certainty and purpose. He contrasts running aimlessly with running with a clear goal in mind. Just as a runner in a race needs a clear finish line to strive for, so too must we have a clear vision and purpose in our lives.

Running with uncertainty leads to aimless wandering, confusion, and ultimately, disqualification from the prize. Uncertainty can cause us to falter, to lose sight of our goals, and to stray from the path that God has set before us. It can lead to indecision, fear, and a lack of confidence in God's plan for our lives.

But how do we run with certainty? How do we ensure that we are not running aimlessly, but with purpose and conviction?

Firstly, we must fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is the ultimate example of running life's race with certainty and purpose. When we keep our focus on Him, our path becomes clearer, and our steps become more sure.

Secondly, we must align our will with God's will through prayer and submission to His Word. As we seek His guidance and direction in all things, He will lead us on the path of righteousness and purpose.

Thirdly, we must be disciplined in our pursuit of godliness. Just as an athlete disciplines their body for the race, we must discipline ourselves spiritually through prayer, fasting, and obedience to God's commands.

Finally, we must persevere in the face of obstacles and challenges, knowing that our faith will be tested, but our reward is sure. As Paul writes, "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:14).

In conclusion, let us not run with uncertainty, but with certainty and purpose, knowing that our ultimate prize awaits us in heaven. May we fix our eyes on Jesus, align our will with God's, discipline ourselves for godliness, and persevere in faith, so that we may receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him (James 1:12).

God bless you.
