God's Commandments
Deuteronomy 6:6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 6:8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. 6:9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. 6:10 And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,
The scripture which is our guide for daily living reminded us to cherish the commandments of God, not just as a set of rules but to bind them upon our hearts. It is an invitation to internalise God's guidance, allowing His words to shape our thoughts, desires, and actions.
Verse 7 emphasizes the importance of passing down God's teachings to the next generation. Our responsibility as believers is not only to follow the commandments ourselves but to actively share them with our children, our families, and our communities. Through this, we ensure that the legacy of God's wisdom endures beyond our own lifetime.
The Lord instructs us to bind His commandments as a sign upon our hands and between our eyes. This calls us to integrate His principles into our work and our perspectives. Ensuring our actions and thoughts are a testament to God's truth, shining His light in all aspects of our lives.
The children of Israel were commanded to write God's commandments on their doorposts and gates, this expands the concept of integration. Our homes and the entry points to our lives should be adorned with the presence of His word. This serves as a powerful reminder that our households are sanctuaries where God's commandments govern our relationships and decisions.
No one follows and trust God without being blessed, the bountiful blessings that follow obedience to God's commandments are revealed in verse 10 and 11. The Promised Land symbolises the fulfillment of God's promises, and in our lives, obedience leads to a richness of spiritual blessings, peace, and purpose. The Lord desires to bless us abundantly, and it is through our adherence to His commandments that we unlock these divine blessings.
In conclusion, God's commandment is the compass for any believer to navigate the maze of this world. let us embrace the significance of God's commandments and may we internalise His guidance, pass it on to the next generation, integrate it into our actions and thoughts, and let it govern our homes.
