Betrayal, after Supper

John  13:1 Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.  13:2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

From many events that precede the crucification was the event of the last supper which symbolises the covenant of the  body of Christ  and His blood. This gathering was only restricted to those who are the closest to Christ, both in ministry and life.

Judas, a trusted disciple, was swayed by the influence of the evil one. Imagine the weight of this revelation for Jesus, who knew that one among His closest companions would turn against Him. The very intimacy of the supper setting emphasizes the profound nature of betrayal—a betrayal not only of friendship but also of the sacred bond shared around that table.

Betrayal after the supper teaches us that no moment of spiritual communion is immune to the temptations of betrayal. Even in the holiest of gatherings, we must remain vigilant against the subtle whispers that lead us astray.

 The devil seeks to exploit vulnerabilities, and we, like Judas, may find ourselves at a crossroads between loyalty and betrayal.

However, let us not forget,  the story does not end with betrayal. Jesus, aware of what awaited Him, responded with love and grace. In the face of imminent betrayal, He washed the feet of His disciples, exemplifying servanthood and teaching us the importance of humility and forgiveness.

As followers of Christ, let us learn from this,  many of those we called the most trusted ally may be the ones who will betray us the  most, and even at the moment of betrayal, we must respond with love just like Christ.

May we cultivate a spirit of humility, service, and forgiveness in our own lives. In doing so, we reflect the transformative power of Christ's love, even in the face of betrayal.

In conclusion, let us to guard our hearts against the forces of darkness through the grace of Christ so as not be a subject of betrayal to others, and let us continue to love our life with love, humility, and forgiveness. Amen.

God bless you.
