Keeping God's commandments
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Jesus begins with the word "if," signifying that our love for Him is the foundation of obedience. Love for God is not mere sentiment but a deep, abiding commitment.
True love for Christ is not just about words but about actions. Our love for Jesus is intimately tied to our willingness to obey His commandments.
God's commands are expressions of His love. The commandments God gives us are not arbitrary rules but expressions of His love and wisdom. They are designed to protect us, guide us, and draw us closer to Him.
God's commandments cover areas such as love for one another, moral conduct, and our relationship with Him. They provide a framework for living a life that reflects the character of God.
Our Obedience to His commandment as an Act of Love: it is not legalism, it is not about earning God's love or salvation; it's a response to His love. It's an act of gratitude for what Christ has done for us.
Obedience is a tangible way to demonstrate our faith in Jesus. It shows that we trust His guidance and acknowledge His lordship over our lives.
Obedience deepens our relationship with God, allowing us to experience His presence and guidance.
It brings inner peace and assurance that we are walking in alignment with God's will. Our obedience can be a powerful testimony to those around us, drawing them closer to Christ.
When we follow the Lord and do His will, then the evidence we will see and experience him turning again to us and be our Lord uniting us again as before. Hosea 6:3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
In conclusion, we must ways remember that love for Him is inseparable from our willingness to obey His commandments. As we strive to keep His commandments, let us do so with hearts filled with love, recognizing that this obedience is not a burden but a blessing.
Through our obedience, we draw closer to God, experience His peace, and become beacons of His love to a world in need. May we all be inspired to live lives that glorify God through our obedient love for Him. Amen.
God bless you.
