Those who are incensed against us

Isaiah  41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.  41:11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.

The reality of living in this world filled with differing views, ambitions, and values means we sometimes face opposition. This opposition may come in the like of those who are “incensed against us.” these may be people who openly disagree with us, criticize our values, or even actively work against us.

The word “incensed” in the context of the scripture mean  anger, resentment, or hostility. God is realistic about this. Being His follower does not exempt us from facing opposition. But the presence of opposition does not mean the absence of God’s protection.

Jesus Himself reminded His disciples, “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first” (John 15:18). Our faith, our values, and our lives are sometimes a source of irritation to those who do not share our beliefs. But God has a purpose for allowing these challenges. Through them, He refines our character, strengthens our trust in Him, and teaches us to respond with Christlike love.

Furthermore, our scripture text today remind us that those who strive against us will ultimately be ashamed and disgraced, and their thoughts against us will “be as nothing.” This promise doesn’t mean we seek vengeance, but rather that we trust God to bring justice in His way and in His time.

When we trust God’s justice, we can face with peace, because God is already our defender. Isaiah’s prophecy tells us that those who contend with us will be “as a nonexistent thing.” This is not because God wishes anyone harm, but because ultimately, all earthly battles fade away in the face of God’s eternal kingdom.

Additionally, When we feel attacked or discouraged, it’s easy to feel alone, but God assures us of His presence. He holds us by the hand, just as a parent holds a child.

In the midst of struggles, God’s voice is  a reminder: “Fear not.” There is no need to fear what others may say or do because God Himself is our strength and our shield. Psalm 23:5 promises, “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” Even in the presence of those who oppose us, God provides, blesses, and protects us.

In conclusion, In the face of opposition, we can choose to respond with faith, humility, and trust in God. Those who are “incensed” against us may be real, and their intentions may seem threatening, but they are ultimately powerless before God’s strength and His justice.  Let us walk confidently, then, in the assurance that no amount of hostility can change who we are in Christ.

God bless you
